Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Several attended the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, at the Lamar Christian Church. The service had originally been intended to be held on the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn; however, due to the expectance of inclement weather, the event was moved indoors.

Scarlette Pratt, daughter of Louis Pratt and Ashley Pratt, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Scarlette enjoys playing softball and participating in archery and cheerleading. She loves her family and all her pets.

Photos courtesy of Kristy Robertson The Truman Day Dog Show was held Saturday, May 4, with categories of 10 pounds or less, 11-30 pounds and 30 plus pounds. Several dogs competed for the top prize. The first place winner in the 10 pound or less category was (first picture) Goldie, owned by Ayla Van DaGriff, Oronogo; (second picture) Buddy, owned by Hailee Haggard of Lamar, took first place in the 11-30 pound category and (third picture) Marley, owned by Hunter Thomason, Lamar, took first place in the 30 plus pound category.
