Arvest Bank donates much needed funds to Golden City Fire Department

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Arvest Bank employees were on hand during Madness on Main Street in Golden City on Thursday, Sept. 19, in order to present a check for $3,750 to the Golden City Volunteer Fire Department members. Some of the firefighters showed off their imagers that were also purchased through help from Arvest Bank. Also to be purchased with these funds will be a cadaver dog. The presentation was waylayed just a bit as the fire department had to respond to a call.

The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
