LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Daniel Funeral Home, for William James Gage, 90, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at Mt. Vernon Veterans Home. Military honors will be conducted and Jack Winningham will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Joyce Gage; a son, Steven Gage, Okeechobee, Fla.; a daughter, Victoria Konchar, Jupiter, Fla.; a brother, Robert Gage, Arlington, Texas and two sisters, Margaret Wattenbarger and Norma Jean Harris, both of Lamar.

Mr. Gage was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Lamar, to Frank Gage and Effie (Brummet) Gage. He was a 1947 graduate of Lamar High School. After high school he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On Jan. 25, 1952, he married Joyce Maxine Harlin in Lamar and together they reared their two children.

He was a boarder patrolman, an immigration officer and criminal investigator for the Justice Department. With his employment he and his wife lived in California, Montana, North Dakota, Florida and Arizona. After retirement they returned to Lamar, where he was a member of the Lamar VFW and enjoyed playing golf.
