LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home for Chet Maynard, 58, Lamar, who died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Burial will follow in Nigh Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include Alyssa Maynard; a son, Tristan Maze, Lamar; a daughter, Linsey Maynard, Joplin; six sisters, Cathy Reese and husband Richard, Augusta, Ga., Colleen Logie and husband Bryan, Richmond Hill, Ga., Oma Baker and Larry Robinett, Golden City, Becci Jones and husband Chris, Lamar, Christy Love and husband Keith, Nevada, Mo. and Ginger Beerbower and husband Nathan, Ft. Scott, Kan.; a grandchild, Jameson Gorski and another grandchild to be born in March of next year, Rhys Maynard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oman Maynard and Pauline Cooley and Don Bigelow, who was a father figure and mentor to him.

Mr. Maynard was born May 8, 1961, in Paintville, Ky., to Oman Maynard and Pauline (Muncy) Maynard. He was a 1979 graduate of Osborne (Kan). High School and after high school he served in the United States Air Force as a Meteorologist. On Aug. 18, 1990, he married Alyssa Thornbrugh. He had worked as a machine operator in the woodshop for O’Sullivan Industries for 20 years.
