LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. today Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home for Samuel Robert “Bob” Jeffries, 92, Lamar, who died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following a short illness. Burial will follow in Morehead Cemetery in Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Survivors include one daughter, Christine Gruver, Lamar; eight sons, David Jeffries and wife Gail, Carthage, Joel Jeffries and wife Sara, Lamar, Matt Jeffries and wife Jean, Lamar, Nate Jeffries, Watford, N.D., Daniel Jeffries and wife Rebecca, Lockwood, Ned Jeffries and wife Gerette, Lamar, Eric Jeffries, Lamar and Jared Jeffries and wife Janis, Lamar; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Diana Lynn; three grandchildren, Heather, Abraham and Kirsten; six brothers and eight sisters.

Mr. Jeffries was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Lamar, to James N. Jeffries and Effie Carolyn Gordon. He married Ramona Maxine Peterson on Feb. 14, 1949, at the Lamar First Christian Church.

He worked at Thorco in Lamar for 25 years and was also a self employed carpenter. He was drafted into the Army on Dec. 3, 1945 and later transferred his enlistment to the United States Air Force as an aircraft engine mechanic.
