Barton County Eagles No. 4405 donate to Lamar Head Start

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger With an emphasis on “People Helping People”, Barton County Eagles No. 4405 President Larry Spencer presented the lead afternoon teacher at Lamar Head Start, Jan Ridenour, with a check raised by the Eagles in the amount of $150. Funds are to be used towards necessary items needed by the school. The Barton County Eagles are also instrumental in raising scholarship funds, holding Christmas celebrations for needy children, sponsoring an Easter egg hunt, supporting little league sports teams, and helping those in need.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Barton County Community Foundation featured Vintage Vegas on Saturday evening, April 13, at Thiebaud Auditorium in Lamar. During the festivities, Elaine Davis, left, president of Lamar Community Betterment, was awarded $1M from a private charitable fund, in order to purchase the old Redneck building at 1705 Gulf. The building will be used jointly by the newly formed Lamar YMCA and the Lamar R-1 School. Watch for more information in the April 24 edition of the Democrat. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church stepped outside of its walls on Sunday morning, as members of the congregation, along with others from the community, gathered at the Wyatt Earp Park in order to worship the Lord. Music sheets were handed out to those attending, with the church’s worship leader Steve Livingston and the Praise Band from the church leading in the music. Dr. Robert Hodson, senior pastor at the church, shared the sermon. According to Ron Sandberg and Ed Patterson, a total of 198 were in attendance on this beautiful day.
