LOCKWOOD- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Norman Dale Heiskell, 85, Lockwood, who died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020. Rev. Randall Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Dudenville Cemetery, south of Golden City.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Community Bible Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Heiskell, Jerico Springs; four daughters, Geneva Heiskell, Springfield, Cindy Smith, Neosho, Janice Frazier and husband Randy, Chetopa, Kan. and Lisa Sikes, Neosho; a daughter-in-law, Paula Heiskell Forsythe, Jefferson City; two brothers, Paul Heiskell and wife Helen, Neosho and Frank Heiskell and wife Frances, Lockwood; 13 grandchildren, Dustin Heiskell and wife Chelsey, Charissa Lock and husband Ryan, Aaron Heiskell, Zachary Smith and wife Kaley, Gabrielle Smith, Drew Frazier and wife Ashley, Marti Frazier, Faith Frazier, Silas Frazier, Olivia Frazier, Kyle Sikes and wife Tana, Victoria Benner and husband Colton and Lacy Heiskell; nine great-grandchildren, Braydon Smith, Aidan, Madalyn and Jude Frazier, Lane and Truman Lock, Hunter Heiskell and Kaide and Kylan Sikes, as well as a multitude of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Mae Heiskell; a son, Norman L. Heiskell; a granddaughter, Hannah Frazier; a son-in-law, Paul Sikes; two brothers, Vernon and Eldon Heiskell and three sisters, Betty Woods, Mary Orrell and Doris Daniel.

Mr. Heiskell was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Lockwood, to Harold and Oma (Coble) Heiskell. He grew up on a farm in Lockwood. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Lockwood High School on May 15, 1953. On May 27, 1956, he married Effie Mae Duncan and they celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to her passing in June 2016. He was a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God and pastored churches in the Southwest Missouri area for many years.

In addition to being a minister, husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed going to Truman Lake to fish with his brothers, Frank and Paul. He also enjoyed a variety of activities throughout his lifetime that included operating heavy machinery (bulldozer), carpentry work, planting and working in his garden and listening to music, especially Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music. He never met a stranger and he loved playing his fiddle (and occasionally bass fiddle) and “jammin” with other bluegrass musician friends.
