SARAH PROBERT

JASPER- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Weng Funeral Chapel for Sarah Arletta Probert, 99, Jasper, who died Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage. Burial will be in Hackney Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hackney Cemetery, or Jasper Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Probert and wife Debra and Doug Probert and wife Kelly, both of Jasper; a special friend, Tammy Wingo; two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Carrol Murphey and three sisters, Loretta Sikes, Helen Rice and Leora VanBummel.

Mrs. Probert was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Barton County, to Clarence and Hattie (Gill) Murphey. She had worked as a cashier for A&P grocery store as a young woman and became a homemaker after marriage.

She was a member of the Jasper Christian Church.

She married Lester Probert on March 27, 1954, at Seneca. He died May 19, 2006.
