LAMAR- A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home for Gary Jay McManis, 72, Lamar, who died Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, in Lamar. The family will receive friends following the service.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Barton County Senior Center, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his parents, Albert and Justine McManis, Lamar; Diane McManis, Lamar; a son, Brock McManis, Lamar; a daughter, Brista Poor and husband Justin, Springfield; two brothers, Bob McManis and wife Carolyn, Lamar; Gayland McManis and wife Carla, Golden City; a sister, Judy Ferris, Lamar and one grandson, Jaydin McManis.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Larry Ferris.

Mr. McManis was born Nov. 5, 1947, in Lockwood, to Albert Jay and Lena Justine (Mayo) McManis. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1966 and went on to study at MSSU. On September 23, 1977, he married Diane Hines in Lamar.

He worked as an insurance agent for over 45 years, was a member of the Optimist Club, enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan.
