LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Daniel Funeral Home for Mary Kathalen Walker, 88, Lamar, who died Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Cox Barton County Hospital, Lamar, with her family by her side. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Golden City.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Barton County Senior Citizens Center or the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three daughters, Villa Waltz and Vina Kahre, both of Jasper and Dana Owen and husband Kenny, Lamar; two brothers, Wendell “Chick” Cook, Yuba City, Calif. and Robert “Bob” Cook and wife Barbara, Carl Junction; six grandchildren, Jason Owen and wife Tandi, Forney, Texas, Lynsey Coleman and husband Chris, Edmond, Okla., Ryann Cummings and husband Jason, Tuttle, Okla.; Allison Kreifels and husband Cody, St. Joseph and Brad Waltz and wife Jama and Amie Primm, all of Jasper; 12 great-grandchildren, Jaxon Owen, Raelynn, Corban and Barrett Coleman, Dylan and Kyndell Cummings, Carter Kreifels, Kirstin, Morgan and Logan Winchester, Addyson Primm and Jonathan Kohley; two great-great-grandchildren, Knox and Waylon Winchester; one brother-in-law, Charles Barnes and two sisters-in-law, Theao Cook and Dixie Mason.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Verna Marlene in 1953; five brothers, John, Hal, George, James and Carl Cook; two sisters, Velma McBride and Bertha Barnes and one son-in-law, Gary Waltz.

Mrs. Walker was born March 27, 1931, in Sarcoxie, to Cheslie A. and Ina Marie (Roseborough) Cook. She was a 1948 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. While on a church outing to the Carthage skating rink, she met Leonard Calvin Walker and the two were married on April 27, 1952, in Harrison, Ark. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1993.

She was a homemaker and later a kindergarten aide. She loved traveling and camping with her husband. She also enjoyed fishing and camping at Roaring River with the grandkids, watching them play sports and show cattle.
