CARTHAGE- A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage for Judy Shelvey, 72, who died Sunday, May 3, 2020, with her husband by her side in Carthage.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to James River Church (Joplin Campus) Children’s and Youth Ministries, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Shelvey; one daughter, Pamela Shelvey; two sons, Dean Shelvey and wife Nancy and Ryan Shelvey and wife Michelle; six grandchildren, Madison Shepard and husband Hunter, Adrian, Kaden, Carson, Bronwyn and Emerson Shelvey; one sister, Jeraldine Hibdon and husband Reggie; three brothers, Ray Maynard, Dale Maynard and wife Glenda and Rick Maynard and wife Stella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mamie Maynard and one infant great-granddaughter, Indigo Shepard.

Mrs. Shelvey was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Webb City, to Raymond and Mamie Maynard. She met and married Roy Shelvey in 1965, in Garden Grove, Calif.

For much of her adult life she was a salesclerk, but her real interests were her dogs, Daisy and Hobo, traveling with her husband and their friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren at the lake house in Manitoba, Canada. She was a loving person who was full of compassion for others.
