LARRY CHESTER HORTON

GOLDEN CITY- Graveside services with full military honors were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at IOOF Cemetery in Golden City, for Larry Chester Horton, 71, Golden City, who died Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Cox Barton County Hospital.

Arrangements were under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Springfield, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Velma Horton; three sons, Larry Wayne Horton and wife Jenna, Springfield, Cliff Horton and wife Christy, Arcola and James Horton, Golden City; one brother, Dennis Horton and wife Helen, Golden City; one sister, Linda Horton, Golden City and eight grandchildren, Chester, Dalton, Cutter, Ashley, Hailey, Destiny, Lydia and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Gale Horton and four grandchildren, Megan, Christopher, Colton and Adriaunna.

Mr. Horton was born October 5, 1948, in Lamar, to Chester William Horton and Alta Mae (Wileman) Horton. He graduated from Golden City High School in 1966 and on September 26, 1970 he married Velma Irene Baxter in the Little Chapel in Golden City Park, Golden City.

He joined the Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He was a certified GM mechanic and worked for Chevrolet for 30 years.
