PAT BEAN

LAMAR- Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, for Patricia Elizabeth Bean, 81, Lamar, who died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Aug. 17, 2020.

Arrangements were under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Survivors include a son, Ron Bean and wife Tracy; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Bean; one grandson; six granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrell; brother, Terry Cassatt; a sister, Peggy Rose and sons, Joe and Shaun Bean.

Mrs. Bean was born May 4, 1939, to Dorothy (Hoaglan) and William Ray Cassatt in Barton County. She was a 1957 graduate of Liberal High School. She married Sherrell Bean on Dec. 27, 1956, in Miami, Okla. The couple had three sons and they made their home in Lamar Heights. She worked on the family farm near Liberal with her husband until his death in 1999.

She always enjoyed gardening in her sweet corn patch. While farming, she worked as a freelance writer and photographer for Farm Talk Magazine and served on the Soybean Merchandising Council. She graduated from the Missouri Southern State University Police Academy in the early 1980’s. She served as a deputy sheriff of Barton County for 17 years, working many of those years as the county’s DARE officer. Upon retirement, Mrs. Bean worked for Vantage Point, caring for mentally handicapped adults.

She was a church organist her entire adult life and enjoyed being a part of a bluegrass band that performed throughout the area, singing and playing many instruments. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood.
