Area schools continue to be affected by COVID-19

The Barton County Health Department (BCHD) announced on September 20, that a Liberal Middle School student had tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last in school on September 14 and was not symptomatic at that time.

Reported on September 21 was a student that had tested positive for COVID-19 at Lamar Middle School. The student was last at school on September 16. Also posted on September 21 was a Liberal Middle School student that had tested positive. This student was last in school on September 18 and was not symptomatic at the time.

The BCHD is working closely with the school districts to identify all close contacts. Those who are identified as close contacts will be contacted by health department representatives and advised on how to proceed.

To protect the privacy of the individual and their family the health department will not release individually identifiable details. The individuals are quarantined and being monitored closely by the Barton County Health Department.
