IVAN LONG

LAMAR- A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Cemtery, with full military honors, for Ivan Lynn Long, 87, Lamar, who died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at his home, with his family by his side.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Lamar First Christian Church Family Life Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Donna; a son, Clayton Long, Philomath, Ore.; a daughter, Sheri McWilliams and husband Dan, Lamar; grandchildren, Ron and Emily Bennett, Bob and Julie Bennett, Amanda Long and Jennifer and TJ Ludwig; stepchildren, Luke McWilliams and Ashley and Matt Nichols; 13 great-grandchildren, Haley Overstreet, Chase, Emma, Avery and Tate Bennett, Troy, Taylor and Joshua Ludwig, Tanner McWilliams, Brayton, Colson and Rhett and Emry Nichols and one great-great grandchild, Myles Overstreet.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Daryl Long.

Mr. Long was born April 8, 1933, in Ottawa, Kan., to Russell Clifford and Bertha “Faye” (Lovitt) Long. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, in the Korean War. On April 21, 1956, he married Donna Jean (Douglass) in Philomath, Ore. and together they raised two children.

He was a heavy machine operator in the construction business, working for Green & White Company, Stadlie Construction, Houck Construction and G.D. Dennis Construction, all in the state of Oregon. He had also worked for Bennett Construction in Lamar. He loved to go to the Barton County Senior Center to play dominoes and helping around the shop at Bennett Construction. He and his wife Donna were long time members of First Christian Church of Lamar.
