LEO EUGENE HITES

LAMAR-A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Sharon's Family Restaurant in Jasper for Leo Eugene Hites, 89, Lamar, a former Jasper resident, who died Friday, April 17, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Survivors include six children, June and Joe Turnback, Littleton, Colo., Paula and John Wingert, Golden City, Patti and Jimmy Rooker, Yukon, Okla., James Hites, Oklahoma City, Okla., Joyce and Keith Cochran, Mustang, Okla. and Rex Hites, of the home; two sisters, Mary Leivan, Jasper and Ellen Carnagie, Eudora, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his wife, Marie Jeanette Hites.

He was preceded in death by two sisters; a brother; a grandson, Jeffrey Kirby and a great-grandson, Peyton Foster.

Mr. Hites was born March 8, 1926, in Montevallo, to James Leo and Audrey Lela (Rapp) Hites. He was a private first class early in his life. He retired from the MFA Grain Elevator, after many years of service. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
