Barton County Chamber holds ribbon cutting for Wisper Internet

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Representatives of Wisper Internet were on hand at 12 noon Thursday, Feb. 25, for a ribbon cutting that was held at the office of the Barton County Chamber of Commerce. Chamber personnel, along with chamber members and others in the community, joined with Wisper representatives that were on hand to help celebrate the coming of Wisper to the area. During the festivities, Elaine Davis, left, president of Lamar Community Betterment, was awarded $1M from a private charitable fund, in order to purchase the old Redneck building at 1705 Gulf. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church stepped outside of its walls on Sunday morning, as members of the congregation, along with others from the community, gathered at the Wyatt Earp Park in order to worship the Lord. Music sheets were handed out to those attending, with the church’s worship leader Steve Livingston and the Praise Band from the church leading in the music. Dr. Robert Hodson, senior pastor at the church, shared the sermon. According to Ron Sandberg and Ed Patterson, a total of 198 were in attendance on this beautiful day.
