Santa and Mrs. Claus, Lamar Mayor Rick Oeltjen, Barton County Chamber of Commerce President Kathy Howard, Pam Oeltjen and Chamber Director Kim O’Sullivan provided the countdown to the turning on of the festive Christmas lights that could be found at the Wyatt Earp Park, as well as the Barton County Courthouse and the Lamar square. Several businesses stayed open follow the ceremony for patrons to visit as they got a start to, or some very luck ones, finished up their Christmas shopping. An ensemble from the Lamar High School Band performed on stage prior to the ceremony, with the event being concluded with a visit by the children to Santa and Mrs. Claus.
