LAMAR-A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery for Wayne L. “Wiener” Zaerr, 68, Lamar, who died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Metro Club Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Zaerr; one son, Chad Zaerr and wife Jacci, Centerton, Ark.; a daughter, Crystal Zaerr, Lamar and three grand dogs, Riley, Ridley and Sadie.

Mr. Zaerr was born Sept. 8, 1947, at the old Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan., to Fred and Marie (Wood) Zaerr. He graduated Liberal High School in 1965 and on October 23, 1982, he married Linda Sue Burns at Lamar First Baptist Church.

He had worked at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan. for 26 years before going to work at Thorco Industries, where he worked for 16 years before retiring. He was a member of Metro Club, a past member of Elks Lodge and loved all kinds of sports, especially the Lamar Tigers and Dallas Cowboys. He liked to hang out at Stevens' Automotive and talk about sports and hang out at Tractors BBQ to tease and flirt with “his girls”. He was also a member of First Baptist Church.
