Mark and Trudy Peterson, Liberal, are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kaitlin Paige Peterson to Kevin Walker Briner, son of Les and Amy Briner, Peculiar. Kaitlin and Kevin are attending the UMKC Pharmacy program in Kansas City, with both set to graduate in May 2016 with their Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. Grandparents of the bride-to-be are John and Fern Wettstein, Joplin and Bob and Dixie Peterson, Oronogo. The prospective bridegroom's grandparents are Robert and Janet Briner, Ashville, N.C. The wedding will take place on Saturday, April 30, at Amadeus Ranch in Seneca. The couple will relocate to Barton County.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Lamar Elks Lodge No. 2800 recently donated $1,000 to the Famous Missouri Veterans Monument, to be erected at the Barton County Memorial Park, located on the corner of 2nd and Gulf, in Lamar. The monument will recognize veterans that made a significant difference while serving in the armed services. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the bank, or drop it by the Plaza Theatre on the south side of the square.
