LEE'S SUMMIT-Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Barton City Cemetery in Liberal for Lewis Charles Bowman, 93, who died Sunday, May 1, 2016.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Langford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bowman; a sister, Lorene B. Williford, South Carolina and numerous other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Bowman.

Mr. Bowman was born Feb. 15, 1923, on a farm north of Iantha. He attended rural schools and was a 1940 graduate of Liberal High School. He worked various jobs in Kansas City before being inducted in the U.S. Army in 1943. He served in Europe during World War II and was honorably discharged in November of 1945.

He returned to Kansas City and worked for Armco Steel, holding various positions before retiring as welding shop foreman after 38 years. He retired in June of 1982.

He married Margaret May Truskett in July of 1945.
