CatTracks won the third place High Point Team Trophy in the Small Team Division at the 2016 Heartland AREA Swim Championships in Edwardsville, Ill. The three-day event was held on March 18-20. To qualify for an individual event at the AREA swim meet, a swimmer had to achieve a qualifying time in that event during the regular season. This was the first time in the team’s history that CatTracks placed as a team at AREA. This is particularly impressive considering the team only brought 15 swimmers to the competition, only eight of whom participated in individual events, with the other seven contributing to relays. Pictured, left to right, are AREA Championship Team members: (first row) Ezekiel Ramirez, William Wright, Aidan Reed and Tristan Clanton; (second row) Sophia Holcomb, Emma Lacey, Elena Wright, Mycah Reed, Meghan Watson, Abigail Holcomb, Aubree Santillan, Skyler Sundy, Olivia Wright and Mary Bean; (third row) Coach Lyman Burr. Not pictured is Ryan Davis.
