LAMAR-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home for Janet Ruth Gordon, 74, Lamar, who died Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2016, at Truman Healthcare Center, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Barton County Senior Center or First Christian Church of Lamar, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include four brothers and their wives, Jerry and Lura Gordon, Jasper, Gary and Patricia Gordon, Carthage, Bob and Peggy Gordon and Ron and Soni Gordon, all of Claremore, Okla.; a sister, Betty Dennis, Lamar; an uncle and aunts, Jack and Carolyn Gordon, Nevada, Mo., Rosalee Potter, Lamar and Lucille George, Iola, Kan., numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Sheila (Gordon) Mayfield.
Ms. Gordon was born May 18, 1942, in Madera, Calif., to Willis and Martha (George) Gordon. Moving to Lamar with her mother in 1973, she became an active member of First Christian Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship and activities of the Sunny Corner Sunday School Class. Always industrious and glad to be busy, she first worked at Lamar Sheltered Workshop, and later at Vantage Point. She always looked forward to Sunday family gatherings, homemade ice cream, playing cards and dominos with family and friends, strumming her guitar and singing her favorite gospel or country songs.
