Mr. Rader was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Barton County, to Elbert and Elsie (Cass) Rader. On Dec. 5, 1965, at the Christian Church in Lamar, he married Maxine Roby and they made their home and farmed in the Hopewell community for the past 50 years. Great memories were made throughout those years as he and his wife traveled the U.S., visiting Hawaii five times, Alaska twice and every other state at least once. An avid Royals and Cardinals baseball fan, he loved to go to Florida to watch his beloved Cardinals in spring training. He also went to Surprise, Ariz., for the Royals spring training in 2004 and 2005.

Active in his community, he served on the board of the Barton County Senior Center, where he enjoyed daily fellowship of friends, shooting pool and playing dominos. Loyal to his country and interested in government, he was an active affiliate in the Barton County Republican Women and Men Associates. He was a member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
