NEVADA, Mo.-A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church for Michael Elza Pruitt, 72, Nevada, who died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in the Osceola Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home; his children, Kent Pruitt and wife Paula, Sarah Morris and husband Christopher and Timothy Pruitt and wife Patricia, all of Nevada; eight grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Allen Pruitt and wife Mary, Ft. Scott, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Lewis “Chuck” Fulton and wife Gwen, Pleasant Hill and a host of friends and former students.

He was preceded in death by two infant sisters and a brother and sister-in-law, James A. and Lauretta Fulton.

Mr. Pruitt was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Elza R. and Bernice Louise (Killion) Pruitt. He accepted the Lord and was baptized at an early age. At the time of his passing he was a deacon and pianist and a long time Sunday school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Fulton (Kan.) High School and received his Associate's Degree from FSCC in Ft. Scott, Kan., and his BS and Master Degrees in Education from Pittsburg State University, majoring in Industrial Technology with wood working his major field. He taught at Stark, Kan., Metz and Liberal, finishing his teaching career in Bronaugh.

He married Sharon Belle Fulton on Oct. 6, 1972, at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He and his wife moved to Nevada in 2014.
