JOPLIN-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar for Lida L. Turner, 82, Joplin,who died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Freeman West Hospital, surrounded by her family. Burial will be at Lake Cemetery in Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Turner and wife Tracy, Plano, Texas and Jeffery Turner and spouse Doug Taylor, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Jan Shelley and husband Larry, Carl Junction; two grandsons, Sam Turner and fiancee Jacy Kirsey, Denver, Colo. and Jake Turner, Plano, Texas; a sister, Sue Craft, Leawood, Kan., and several nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Austin Sr. and a sister, Donna Austin.

Mrs. Turner was born April 27, 1934, in Lamar, to Chester E. and Mildred E. (Blair) Austin. She attended grade school in Boston, Mo. and was a 1952 graduate of Lamar High School. She married David Turner and to that union were born two sons and a daughter. She worked for Freeman Hospital for most of her working career, retiring in 1998. She has called Joplin home for the last 50 years and has been a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was happiest when her home was filled with family and her two grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She will be fondly remembered by all for her sense of humor and quick wit.
