LAMAR-A memorial service will be held at a later date for Muriel Maxine LeGrand, 82, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Truman Healthcare Center. Burial will be next to her husband in Newport Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Good Samaritan Shop, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons, Billy LeGrand, Matthew LeGrand and James LeGrand, all of Lamar; two daughters, Debra LeGrand and Shelly LeGrand, also of Lamar and two grandchildren, Chase LeGrand, Lamar and Alexis LeGrand, Mulberry, Kan.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Wilkins and Carl Wilkins and a sister, Selma Clawson.

Mrs. LeGrand was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Newport, to Charles Abner and Grace Elizabeth (Brines) Wilkins. She graduated high school and on December 13, 1952, married William Lee “Billy” LeGrand and together they reared five children. He died on April 12, 2007.

She was a member of Newport Baptist Church and was a farm wife, helping her husband raise crops and cattle.
