LAMAR-Honoring his wishes, James Michael Rogers, 51, Lamar, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, has been cremated and a gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Rod Rogers and Holly Hughes, Carl Junction and Michael Rogers and Kally Gilman, Miami, Okla.; a daughter, Miranda Rogers, Webb City; a sister, Melissa Shofler, Lamar; four grandchildren, Aydyn, Miami, Okla. and Faithlyn, Kaiser and Savannah, Webb City; four step-grandchildren, Dustin, Luke, Izabella and LylaJune, Carl Junction; an aunt, Susie Shofler and an uncle, Earl Leonard Shofler, both of Lamar.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Ethel Shofler; his parents, James and Joanna Rogers; a brother, Gregory Shofler; a sister, Cynthia Rogers; an aunt, Linda Shofler and a nephew, Joshua Shofler.

Mr. Rogers was born Oct. 13, 1965, in Joplin to James and Joanna (Shofler) Rogers. He was a shade tree mechanic and had worked as a house painter until retiring due to ill health. He was a talented cartoonist and enjoyed free-hand drawing.
