Liberal students collect food for Christmas baskets

Third graders in Mrs. Harrison's class at Liberal Elementary headed up a canned food drive to be donated to help feed families during the holidays. The elementary donated a total of 1,111 items to the Good Samaritan, to help fill Christmas baskets. Each day students would collect, tally and chart the total for each class. Mrs. Troth's third grade won with 240 cans brought in.

Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. She plans on playing volleyball or basketball next year. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Reading, because both teachers make it a lot of fun while they teach.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower.
