Grand re-opening held at The Grind

Lamar Democrat/Melissa Little The Grind held its grand re-opening on Thursday, Dec. 15, at their new location at 1206 Cherry in Lamar. The Barton County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at 12 noon, followed by acoustic music, a warm fire and a time to just hang out and enjoy conversations with each other. The Grind is open to entertainers interested in playing music in the evenings. Anyone interested should send them a message on Facebook in order to set up a time.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Barton County Community Foundation featured Vintage Vegas on Saturday evening, April 13, at Thiebaud Auditorium in Lamar. During the festivities, Elaine Davis, left, president of Lamar Community Betterment, was awarded $1M from a private charitable fund, in order to purchase the old Redneck building at 1705 Gulf. The building will be used jointly by the newly formed Lamar YMCA and the Lamar R-1 School. Watch for more information in the April 24 edition of the Democrat. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church stepped outside of its walls on Sunday morning, as members of the congregation, along with others from the community, gathered at the Wyatt Earp Park in order to worship the Lord. Music sheets were handed out to those attending, with the church’s worship leader Steve Livingston and the Praise Band from the church leading in the music. Dr. Robert Hodson, senior pastor at the church, shared the sermon. According to Ron Sandberg and Ed Patterson, a total of 198 were in attendance on this beautiful day.
