Photo courtesy of Flyover Photography Kevin and Gina Little, Lamar, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alana Rae Little to Austin James Gilmartin, son of James and Karen Gilmartin, Lamar. Alana will receive a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in May of this year. Austin received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and in Accounting from Pittsburg State University. He is currently employed as an accountant at Williams and Associates CPAs in Lamar. Alana is the granddaughter of Lon and Virginia Frieden and Ray and Doris Little. Austin is the grandson of Betty Gilmartin and the late Joe Gilmartin and the late Howard and Betty Foster. The couple is planning a July 22 wedding at the Barn in Pittsburg, Kan

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Lamar Elks Lodge No. 2800 recently donated $1,000 to the Famous Missouri Veterans Monument, to be erected at the Barton County Memorial Park, located on the corner of 2nd and Gulf, in Lamar. The monument will recognize veterans that made a significant difference while serving in the armed services. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the bank, or drop it by the Plaza Theatre on the south side of the square.
