JASPER-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Weng Funeral Chapel for Elwyn Arden Nixon, 91, Jasper, who died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. Burial will be in Fasken Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral chapel.

Survivors include four daughters, Victoria Bennett, Sheila Potter, Tana Walters and Tara Heiskell; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nixon was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Jasper County, to Guy E. and Ada (Campbell) Nixon. He grew up on the family farm in Jasper and was a farmer and raised Black Angus cattle. He loved gospel music and telling stories and tall tales, for which he was well known for. He was a 1944 graduate of Golden City High School and was a member of the Grace Pentecostal Church of Golden City.

He married Delores Opal Knell on Feb. 14, 1948. She died Oct. 20, 2008.
