NEVADA- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home for Genevieve Lou Guinn, 78, Nevada, who died Monday, March 20, 2017. Pastor Roger Beach will officiate. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Horton, with Lawrence Cripps presiding.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Danny and Claude Crain Memorial Scholarship Fund or Medicalodges of Nevada, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Brad Guinn, Nevada and Jeff Guinn and wife Pamela, Ft. Worth, Texas; five granddaughters, Abby Underwood, Columbia, Mo., Sarah Guinn, Bryan, Texas, Karly Guinn, Kansas City, Mo., Rachel Guinn, Ft. Worth, Texas and Whitney Robertson, Ft. Worth, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Gemma Sue Underwood; two brothers, Coney Crain, Morrisville and Ron Crain and wife Gale, Columbia, Mo. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Crain; her parents, Claude and Sylvia Crain and a nephew, Danny Crain.

Mrs. Guinn was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Morrisville, to Claude and Sylvia (Johnston) Crain. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Springfield and Southwest Missouri State College with degrees in Art and Education. In her early years she taught school in St. Charles, where she was an Art teacher for 11 years. In 1973 she moved to Lamar and became the librarian at Lamar High School until 1992. While in Lamar she was an active member of the Missouri Community Betterment.

She began her second career in 1995, becoming lay pastor of the Horton Methodist and Metz Methodist churches until retiring in 2006. Following her years in the ministry, she became a member of the Ohio Street Methodist Church in Butler, where she continued to teach Sunday school for a number of years. For the past seven months, while residing in Medicalodges in Nevada, she held a Bible study for any resident who wished to gather with her. She was loved by many and impacted many lives along her journey. She will be missed.

She married Charles Virgil Guinn on Oct. 19, 1959, in Mount Vernon. He died February 14, 2012.
