LIBERAL- A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Liberal City Cemetery for Louise “Becky” Nichols, 90, Liberal, who died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Via Christi Village, Pittsburg, Kan. Rev. Roger McKee will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions are suggested to DOGS Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, Rich Nichols and fiancee Glenda Sechler, Joplin; three daughters, Connie Schmidt and husband Doug, Honor, Mich., Suzette Cowan and Renee Jones, both of Liberal; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Darren, Doug, Christopher, Jane, Caleigh, Chris, Stephanie, Amy, Tracy and Dexter and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Becker; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Denise Nichols and a daughter-in-law, Teresa Nichols.

Mrs. Nichols was born July 10, 1926, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Joseph E. and Eunice Lilly (Dobbs) Becker. She attended Leavenworth and McLouth Schools and was a high school graduate. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing clothes for her children when they were young. She also loved reading and writing in her daily journal and was an avid KU Jayhawks fan. She was of the Methodist faith.

She married Richard C. Nichols on Oct. 14, 1947, in Bentonville, Ark. He preceded her in death.
