BARBARA TATUM

CARTHAGE- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Knell Mortuary for Barbara J. Tatum, 77, Carthage, who died early Monday morning, May 22, 2017, at Freeman East Hospital in Joplin. Rev. James Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Carthage.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the mortuary.

Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Heart Association – Go Red for Women, in care of the mortuary at 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Comer and husband Mark, Joplin; one son, Michael Tatum and wife Michelle, Carterville; four stepchildren; one sister, Vickie Troutman and husband Don, Alba and four grandchildren, Riley Comer, Gabby Tatum, Savanah Tatum and Xander Tatum.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Cearnal.

Mrs. Tatum was born July 3, 1939, in Lamar, to Paul and Maxine (White) Cearnal. She was a 1957 graduate of Golden City High School. She worked at Schreiber's Foods in Carthage for 26 years and was a member of the Dudenville Methodist Church.

She married Robert Eugene Tatum on April 12, 1975, in Morgan Heights. He died Dec. 27, 2014.
