HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas- Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Bethel Church in Killeen for Richard Lee Foster, 87, Harker Heights, who died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at his home, surrounded by family.

Arrangements were under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.

Survivors include his wife of almost 66 years, Joyce, Harker Heights and three sons, Gary and Michael, state of Texas and Kenneth, Florida; two sisters, Betty Holman, Michigan and Joanna Smith, Joplin, Mo.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria; three brothers, Leon, Leo and Fred; a sister, Imogene and a granddaughter, Lisa.

Mr. Foster was born April 18, 1929, in Marionville, Mo., to Claude and Grace Foster. He had worked as a farmer, truck driver and mechanic, had worked several years for the City of Killeen and City of Irving, as well as for the Chrysler division in Detroit, Mich.

He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was awarded several medals for exemplary conduct and also won several sharpshooter trophies. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved working on old cars. He was a born again Christian and will be missed by all who knew him.
