LILA ACHEY

LAMAR- Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home for Lila Sue Achey, 81, Lamar, who died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside committal service will follow at noon, at Hackney Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus or family expenses in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughters, Susette Butts, Liberal and Lorraine Achey, Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Beverly Watson, Medford, Ore. and Connie Adams, Eagle Point, Ore.; two grandchildren, Roselie Burr and Andrew Burr and four great-grandchildren, Elijah Clines, Skylan Burr, Austin Burr and Novalie Burr.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Reynolds and Bill Reynolds and six sisters, Pauline Woods, Janice Hunt, Margret Hooper, Betty Edwards, Ila Bethany and Dilby Dunshee.

Mrs. Achey, along with her twin sister Ila, were born Feb. 13, 1936, at their family home in Wentworth, to Hugh and Jennie (Ross) Reynolds. She married Alvin Achey on June 3, 1956, at Kendricktown and they reared their two daughters and farmed in Barton County near Liberal for many years. She also had worked at Jones Drugs in Liberal. A few years after her husband’s death in 1990, she retired from the farm and moved to Lamar.

She had been a member of the Christian Church of Liberal, American Legion Auxiliary, the Friendly Folks Club and enjoyed the fellowship of a bowling league.
