RURAL LAMAR- A memorial to celebrate the life of Herbert Lee Overstreet, 64, rural Lamar, who died Sunday night, Oct. 1, 2017, at his home, will be held Wednesday at Oakton Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Oakton Building Fund.

Survivors include his wife Connie; his mother, Nadine; two sons, Jamie Overstreet and wife Melissa and Bryan Overstreet and wife Denise; a daughter, Brenda Burge and husband Troy; three brothers, Harold Overstreet and wife Jane, Brad Overstreet and wife Rhonda and Greg Overstreet and wife Belinda; nine grandchildren, Kaden and wife Haley, Kyler, Kolin, Kase, Krissy, Baylee and Sammi Overstreet and Kennedi and Whitley Burge and a great-grandson, Myles Overstreet.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Overstreet was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Girard, Kan., to Herbert George and Ruth Nadine (Bennett) Overstreet. He was a 1971 graduate of Lamar High School.

He married Connie Costley on Sept. 15, 1973, at Oakton Methodist Church and they made their home and reared their three children in Lamar. Many will remember him for the excellent service they received from him at the local parts stores for 20 years. He later worked for the City of Lamar for 10 years.

He was saved August 29, 2017 and baptized September 5, 2017. His greatest loves were spending time at the lake and with his family.
