LAMAR-No services were held for Darlene Wood, 87, Lamar, who died Monday May 25, 2015.

Survivors include her children, Lindell Davis, Marcia Griffitt, Debra Davis and Larry Luke Davis and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirlene Marie Holland and a son, Randy Scott Scooter Davis.

Mrs. Wood was born Aug. 14, 1927, to LW Dutch and Gladys Jones.

Gunner Miller, son of Sharron Miller, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Gunner plays baseball and likes playing video games in his spare time. His favorite subject is Math.

Rawlings Crane & Fabrication has been busy installing the new screen at the Barco Drive-In. This photo from Thursday morning shows both wings in place. The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
