MELVIN FRED OBERT

LOCKWOOD-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Melvin Fred Obert, 91, Lockwood, who died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at his home. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rena Regee Obert, of the home; six children, Linda Benz, Raytown, Sandra Maize, Carthage, Penny Maxwell and husband Jay, Wichita, Kan., Melody Schnelle and husband Dale, Spring Hill, Kan., Justin Obert, Columbia and Angel Obert, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Obert and a grandson, Troy Schnelle.

Mr. Obert was born June 6, 1924, in Lockwood, to Fred and Mabel (Brooks) Obert. Melvin was baptized on Aug. 3, 1924, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, where he was also later confirmed. He worked as a radio and TV technician.

He married Rena Regee on Jan. 6, 1988.
