LHS girls swim team concludes first half of season

Prior to entering the winter break the Lamar High School girls swim team concluded the first half of their season at the Monett Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018. The Lady Tigers tied for fourth place overall in team competition, facing 15 other teams from southern Missouri. Pictured, left to right, are: Meghan Watson, Cher McCall, Abby Kluhsman, Samantha Capehart, Nevaeh Jones, Emma Tennal, Team Manager Audrey Whitworth and Kaitlyn Davis.

The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State. The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
