LAMAR- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home for June Carol Hill, 85, Lamar, who died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at her home. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to service time, beginning at 10 a.m.

Contributions are suggested to her family, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons, Bob Harr, Lamar, Jamie Harr and wife Martha, Lockwood and Harley Hill, Golden City; one daughter, Carol Davis; two brothers, James “Jim” Hobbs I, Cambridge, Neb. and Timothy “Tim” Gammel and wife Deb, Mechanicsville, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Brian Harr and wife Christi, Timothy “Tim” Harr, Jessica Antal, Sarah Mathias and husband Tim, Michelle Strate and husband Bryce, Bryan Harr and wife Samantha, Nathan Davis and wife Sarah, Crystal Hill and Drew Keil, Dustin Harr and wife Lillian and Devin Hill; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen “Annie” Wilson and two brothers, Noah Hobbs and Jack Hobbs.

Mrs. Hill was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Ault, Colo., to Harley Wilford “Jack” Hobbs and Vivian Alma (Wilkinson) Hobbs. She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, reading, cooking, water aerobics and making Christmas goodies. The thing she enjoyed the most was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower.
