Golden City Eagles draw top seed in own tournament

Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow After upsetting Dadeville in a seven over two match-up in the opening round, Golden City took on three seed Liberal in the semifinal round. Brandi Goodell's Lady Bulldogs outlasted them to advance to the title game, which they lost Saturday to Greenfield. Golden City dropped the third place game to Jasper. Here Golden City standout, senior Ashlyn Woodworth gets a shot up around Liberal's Arianna Forst. Liberal will be hosting their annual Tony Dubray Classic this week.

The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower.
