GRANGER, Ind.- Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home for Verna Jean “Jeanie” Werts, 92, a devout Christian who died at her home on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. Burial will be at Howell Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Thomas and wife Sheri and five grandchildren, Jon Werts and wife Janice, Corinna Scafidi and husband Joseph, Rex Werts, Jr., Michael Werts and Michelle Werts, along with five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Rex.

Mrs. Werts was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Lander, Wyo., to Tom and Georgia Hulett. She lived most of her life in Dubois, Wyo. and San Diego, Calif., where she reared her family. She led a full and productive life and was very active in the Wyoming Historical Society, as well as the senior center at the Episcopal church in Dubois, Wyo. She was a very accomplished seamstress and regularly created and donated prayer shawls to local groups. She loved Boston Terriers and owned many throughout her life. Her hobbies included growing flowers and bird watching.

She married Albert Claude Werts. He preceded her in death.
