GARY PHIPPS

JOPLIN- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Gary John Phipps, 73, Joplin, who died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lamar.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Cox Barton County Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Phipps; two sons, Darrel Phipps and wife Diane, Carl Junction and Doug Phipps and wife Misty, Joplin; one daughter, DeAnn Fidler and husband Brian, Joplin; four grandchildren, Kelsey Phipps, Jonah Phipps, Michael Phipps and Isabella Fidler; two sisters, Linda Colin and husband Gary, Lamar and Janis Phipps, Joplin and countless extended family.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Cass.

Mr. Phipps was born Nov. 16, 1945, in Lamar, to John Howard and Mary Ella (Harmon) Phipps. He married the love of his life, Lois Braker, on Nov. 23, 1963, and together they had three children.

He had a compassion heart and quick wit, leaving an impression on everyone he met. His love for family extended beyond blood, as he and his wife welcomed all into their home and hearts.
