RICHARD “INK” MASSA

PITTSBURG, Kan.- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Brenner Mortuary for Richard “Ink” Massa, 91, Pittsburg, who died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Medicalodges of Pittsburg. Jerry R. Kendall will officiate. Burial will be in Rosebank Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Church of Christ of Lamar, Mo., in care of the mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, Kan. 66762.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Massa, of the home; two brothers, John Massa and wife Rosemary, Girard and Bobbie Joe “Nook” Massa and wife Lee Ruth, Mulberry; two sisters, Norma Bezinque and Dorothy Matthews, both of Girard and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anton “Tony” Massa and Victor Massa and two sisters, Rita Leist and Lucille Behnke.

Mr. Massa was born Oct. 11, 1927, at Mulberry, to Victor and Mary (Pepina) Massa. He attended Mulberry schools and was a 1946 graduate of Mulberry High School. In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1953.

He married Norma Lafferty on May 3, 1955, at Arcadia.

He worked for Dickey Clay for 23 years, then worked for A&B Motor Company and Bowlus School Supply.

Memberships were held in the Church of Christ of Lamar, Mo. and the American Legion Post No. 64.

He was known for his love of fishing and gardening.
