GOLDEN CITY- Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Weng Funeral Chapel for James Whitney “Jim” Scott, 87, Jasper, who died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts be made to the Good Endings program at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Scott; four sons, Rusty and wife Jean, Springfield and Dan and wife Lorrie, Max and wife Michaela and Bill and wife Charlotte, all of Golden City; two brothers, Bill and wife Carol, Golden City and Bob and wife Judy, Lee’s Summit; two brother-in-laws, Don Quade and wife LaWanda and Ben Lee and wife Mary Lee, Carthage; two aunts, Wanda Probert and Betty Probert, Golden City and one uncle, Ed Weinstein, also of Golden City; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins.

Mr. Scott was born July 29, 1931, to Earl W. and Lucille (Probert) Scott. He lived most of his life in Barton, Jasper and Dade counties after graduating from Westport High School in Kansas City, Mo. in 1949. He then joined the Navy from 1950-1954, serving on the USS Corregidor and the USS Merrimac.

He was a dairyman, equipment salesman, truck driver, milk hauler, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He married Alene Quade on Jan. 28, 1955, in Columbus, Kan. They worked together while rearing their four sons, went to an incredible number of ball games and other events as they supported them while they grew up and started their own lives and families.
