NADINE JONES

ARMA, Kan.- Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Arma United Methodist Church for Nadine Jones, 82, Arma, who died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Arma Health and Rehabilitation Center. Burial was in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bedene Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arma United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home at 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, Arma; a daughter, Clare Garrett and husband Craig, Franklin; a son, Jaycee Jones, Salina; a sister, Lucille Wolf, rural Liberal, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Hininger, Carthage, Mo.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Hininger.

Mrs. Jones was born May 13, 1936, in rural Barton County, Mo., near Jasper, Mo., to Clarence and Carrie (Keltner) Hininger. She was a homemaker and had also worked at Mt. Carmel Hospital as a nurses aide for 14 years. She attended Blue Community Grade School and was a 1954 Jasper High School graduate. She married James C. Jones on April 1, 1956, at her parent’s home and they lived a few years in the Blue community.

She worked part time at the Iantha Post Office and was a member of the Iantha United Methodist Church, where she and her husband served as leaders of the youth group. She was a caring person and always helped with the elderly. In the early 1970s she and her husband moved to Arma, where her husband became head electrician.

Mrs. Jones helped with the church in giving to the needy at Christmas and on Sundays after church she would visit the nursing home, giving church bulletins. She was a member of the Iantha and Arma United Methodist Church.
