OAK GROVE- Inurnment will be held at a later date in Waverly Cemetery for James Glenn Cooper, 79, Oak Grove, who died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royer Funeral Home.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Smith, Jasper; three children, Michelle Barnett and Janet Davis, both of Lee’s Summit and Gary McChristian, Oak Grove; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of extended family members.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Mr. Cooper was born April 27, 1939, in Waverly, to William “Jack” and Dixie Bell (Wilson) Cooper. He moved to Oak Grove in 1952, where he attended Oak Grove schools and spent the remainder of his life. He retired from Kansas City Power and Light in 1995 and went on to work for the Lafayette Road District before his final retirement in 2005.

He enjoyed large family gatherings, gambling, watching the Royals play and watching car races. He also enjoyed activities at the Davis Memorial Center in Oak Grove and of course, the yearly Apple Jubilee in his hometown of Waverly, where he will be buried.
