SULLIVAN- Last rites will be held later in the spring for Carmen Erline Medlin, Sullivan, who died unexpectedly at their winter home on Marco Island, Fla., on January 19, 2019.

Survivors include three children, Cheri Cason, Green City, Greg Medlin and wife Beth, Omaha, Neb. and Grant Medlin and wife Becke, Bourbon; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilmetta Jeffries, Lamar and Jeanette McColm and husband Larry, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Larry Frogge and wife Marsha, Mountain Home, Ark. and three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Bishop and husband Louis, Rogers, Ark., Zoe Caywood and husband Charlie, Hindsville, Ark. and Pam Kaderly and husband Rick, Lamar.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wayne Frogge.

Mrs. Medlin was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Lamar, to Earl and Thelma (Rose) Frogge. She attended and graduated from Lamar High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Medlin, on Aug. 18, 1956. They established and successfully ran Ditch Witch in Sullivan until retiring.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower.
